Anna padded across the oak floor and stopped at the podium holding the Book of Shadows. She stared at it a moment, her brown eyes clouding over slightly as the story ran through her mind of the last time a witch in her family did this. She wasnt sure if it would react the way it had over 20 years ago, but she had to try. It was better than not knowing. Anna flipped open the Book and quickly found the page she was looking for. Tossing the necessary ingredients into the urn on the potions table, she lit a candle and scribbled something down on a piece of paper. Taking a deep breath, she watched the flame dance idly. She closed her eyes and began to chant.
She touched the tip of the paper to the flame and it quickly caught on; Anna dropped the burning paper into the urn and there was a poof. A magical wind blew throughout the crowded attic and swirled around her, putting the candle out and wafting the smoke out the open window. Anna guarded her eyes against the wind and when she lowered her hands, two people stood before her. One was about 40 or 50, and looked like a cross between Anna and Piper, the other was small, with large brown eyes and curly dark hair; she couldnt have been more than 5 or 6. She clutched a small, raggedy stuffed cat with one button eye.
"Oh...crap," she murmured, annoyed, as she realized the same thing HAD happened.
The older woman looked just as if not more annoyed than Anna did and the young girl let out an ear piercing scream and started balling. Anna plugged her fingers into her ears and cringed. She'd forgotten she could do that. The older woman simply placed her hands on her hips and arched an eyebrow at Anna, completely ignoring the young child, as if she was used to it or was expecting it.
My love is strong my spirit weak,
It is an answer that I seek.
A question burns within this fire,
So that I may hear my heart's desire.
